Paguera -Majorca
The resort area of Paguera was once a fishing port, is the perfect vacation spot - if you're looking for a place in the sun in Spain. With dozens of hotels, and a few apartments available, it would be easy to get a room here, and it is only about 40 minutes from the airport. Temperatures are mild all year round - not getting much above the mid 80's F, and usually staying above 50 F, in the winter.
Beaches in Paguera
Paguera has three beaches from which to choose - called "Playa Palmira", "Playa Tora" and "Playa La Romana." A rather new promenade for pedestrians allows you to be able to easily go from one beach to the other. These beaches have quite a lot of activity going on in the summer months, and there are quite a number of tourists. In spite of the number of tourists, great effort is given to keeping the beaches clean. It seems that many come here from Germany, and England each year, with many more seemingly focusing on this resort area, and the Brits seem to mostly focus on the other ones nearby.
Activities in Paguera
Everything that you could need for a good vacation, you can find nearby. Shopping centers, supermarkets, car rentals, discos, spas, and pools, bus transportation and taxis, and much more. Activities allow you to enjoy biking, sailing, tennis, golf, and more. The beautiful pine-wooded forests behind the resort offer good trails for hiking.
One of the most well-known activities of the resort is the Pirates Adventure. This very popular evening attraction is offered as a dinner and show combination. Having short dialogues of English throughout the evening, it runs from March through October, on Sunday and Monday nights. This would be a good family activity. They do also have an adult version, called “Pirates Uncut” – so be sure to bring the kids to the right show.
Boat trips leave out of Paguera and some of them have glass-bottoms for a wonderful view of the underwater-world. While some of them run along the coast, you may be able to take one over to the Dragonera Natural Park. Protected as a natural reserve, it is an island about 4 miles long. Here there is a museum and you can see the remains of a Roman settlement at Cova de sa Font.
Golf is a highlight of the Mallorca area, with as many as 6 championship standard golf courses nearby. Arrangements can be made to play, through an agency called the “Mallorca Golf Connection,” and transportation can be provided to play on these well-known greens.
A nearby town - Cala Fornells, is only about a walk away of about ½ an hour. Once there, you can see this very picturesque town with terra cotta style homes. Above all, don’t forget to bring your camera.
Eating and Drinking in Paguera
While there is nearly always something going on there, the restaurants largely focus on German and English food. There are a good selection of places to choose from, and they allow for a wide range of expense - having something for every price range.{jcomments on}
